Project Overview
This project aims to construct a basketball court for the Montopolis community in Austin, Texas. The basketball court will increase opportunities for recreation and enrich underserved communities. This basketball court had originally been requested by the community and included in the original master plan of the Roy Guerrero Metropolitan Park, but it was never built.
Community Overview
Montopolis is a neighborhood in southeast Austin, Texas, that is historically underserved. This neighborhood has a population of about 7,000 people with limited public recreational opportunities.
Current Project Status
A site feasibility study of the site for the basketball court at Roy Guerrero Metropolitan Park was done by the UT Senior Design Team in the Fall of 2023. The EWB Chapter will now be in charge of designing the basketball court and aims to have civil plan sets ready by the Summer of 2024.
Getting Involved
The Austin team meets virtually every Tuesday.
Every 4th Tuesday, the Austin and Puerto Rican teams meet together via Google Meet.
