2016 EWB-USA International Summit

A few members of the EWB-USA Greater Austin Chapter had the opportunity this last month to attend the EWB-USA International Summit in Denver Colorado. The 2016 EWB-USA International Summit brought together NGO, volunteer, academic, and industry sectors to engage in dialogue on our collaborative roles in addressing the Sustainable Development Goals. The summit kicked off with a screening of the award-winning documentary Poverty, Inc. and a cross-disciplinary discussion titled “Poverty: Conceptions, Misperceptions, and Renewed Directions.” The summit also showcased eight Global Dialogue topics around the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Members of the Greater Austin chapter attended discussions on topics such as “Partnering with Multi-Level Governments” and “Cultural Dimensions of Gender”. The participants also got a chance to network with other chapters across the country that also work in Guatemala or Peru and discuss potential opportunities for collaboration!
